The District Administration has given
stone quarry lease rights to 49 Women quarry SHGs.These
49 quarry Women SHGs are functioning in 7 Blocks
of Pudukkottai District, namely Annavasal, Viralimalai,Kunnandarkoil,
Thirumayam, Ponnamaravathi, Arimalam, Pudukkottai.
The stone materials produced by these SHGs are sold
through DSMS. Since the formation of SGSY women
quarry groups, DSMS has purchased quarry products
from these groups to the value of Rs. 30.42 Lakhs.
The DSMS is marketing the material produced by SHGs
at reasonable rate both for Government and Private
work within the District and outside the District
also. For the purpose of effective marketing of
SHG quarry products, metal test has been done in
Regional Engineering College, Trichy.
